Dr. Yaonan Hou
Former Project
Toroidal electrodynamics
Short CV
Dr. Yaonan Hou received his PhD degree in Condensed Matter Physics from Institute of Physics,
Chinese Academy of Sciences (Beijing National Laboratory for Condensed Matter Physics) in 2012.
Afterwards, he joined department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering (home to EPSRC National
Epitaxy Facility), University of Sheffield as a Research Associate (transferred to an open-end position
at 2016) in GaN based wide band gap semiconductor photonic devices. In 2017, he joined Innovation for
High-Performance Microelectronics (known as IHP, a research institute belongs to Leibniz Association
in Germany) as a Scientist in Group-IV semiconductor photonics. In 2019, he started the research in
toroidal electrodynamics at ORC, University of Southampton as a Research Fellow. He is interested in
toroidal pulse-matter interactions.
