Dr. Salvatore Savo
Former Project
Super-resolution optical imaging
Short CV
Dr. Savo received both his BSc (2002) and MSc (2005) from the University of Salerno in Italy, with his Masters thesis conducted at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden studying nanoscale MOSFETs for microwave applications. From 2005 to 2006, Dr. Savo was employed at Micron Technology where he worked as "Analyst Engineer" in the field of CMOS based image sensors and solid state memories. Following his industry position, Dr. Savo went back to school, and in 2009, received his PhD from the University of Naples - "Federico II" spending half of his PhD activity as a visiting research scholar at Northeastern University in Boston MA, with a thesis on "Engineering metamaterials and photonic crystals for microwave applications: from superlensing to slowlight".
He is worked at the ORC as a postdoctoral research fellow.
Dr. Savo's research interests at the time were in superlensing achieved by superoscillation, superlensing properties of photonic crystals (PCs), surface states in PCs, split-ring-resonators (SRRs) based metamaterials and slowlight phenomena in metamaterials based waveguides.
